On Wednesday, Rockwood city council members and city staff had a meeting to hire two police officers. According to The City Administrator, one officer who was interviewed decided not to move forward with his application, and after last night’s meeting and approval to hire another one, he said he would be staying with Morgan County.
Police Depts all across our area are struggling to keep officers as many are seeking new employment opportunities and better pay at other depts. Roane County commissioners voted to use Arp Funds to secure Roane Deputies a 5% pay increase for the next 2 years to keep them with the department. Rockwood Council members did meet in a budget work session immediately following the special called meeting as well.
