Around 10,000 workers at Deere & Company, the maker of agricultural and farming equipment, rejected a contract proposal and went on strike early Thursday, according to The New York Times. The workers, members of the United Automobile Workers union, are based mostly in Iowa, Illinois and Kansas. The dispute is over wage increases, pensions for new employees and other incentives in light of the global supply chain bottleneck due to the COVID-19 pandemic. John Deere is set to make a record of nearly $6 billion this fiscal year, according to the company’s latest forecast.
