A 79-year-old resident of Cumberland County recently fell victim to the “Publisher’s Clearing House” scam. Officers say he was contacted by a “John Parker,” informing him he won $4.5 million dollars. The victim then realized he was being scammed and was able to prevent delivery of the money order. Parker called the victim back and got the numbers off the gift card. The victim then realized he was being scammed and was able to prevent delivery of the money order. It is being returned to him.

Law enforcement says scammers are targeting the elderly with these types of bogus win claims. Simply hang up or get as much information on them as possible and report it to authorities. Never give out personal information to anyone you do not know by way of the phone or the internet.
