A football player at the University of Tennessee is under investigation by police for allegedly beating another student’s six-month-old kitten. U.T. linebacker Aaron Beasley, age 20, is accused of animal abuse after he reportedly hit, kicked, and locked a kitten in a toilet bowl. The animal was later taken to a veterinarian emergency room for brain damage and internal bleeding.
U.T. Athletics issued a statement yesterday indefinitely suspending Beasley from the team.
“We have received the incident report from the Knoxville Police Department. Aaron Beasley has been suspended indefinitely from all football team activities as we await further information.”
No charges have been filed yet (as of 7 a.m. April 6, 2021) in the case.
Beasley is a Junior linebacker from Franklin, Georgia majoring in communication studies at the university. He came to U.T. in 2019 appearing in nine games contributing to the special teams as a true freshman. During his sophomore year he played in eight games as a reserve linebacker.
