PICKETT COUNTY BOBCATS DEFEATED IN STATE FINAL FOUR GAME

It was a fantastic run for the TSSAA Class A state high school boys basketball championship.

The Pickett County Bobcats took on MAHS (Memphis Academy of Health Science) in the Final Four this morning at MTSU in Murfreesboro. The winner will face Clay County for the championship tomorrow (Saturday, March 20, 2021).

MAHS won the game 77 to 57 eliminating Pickett County.

The Bobcats came into the game today after eliminating Cosby yesterday afternoon by the score of 63 to 56 in a hard fought contest.

MAHS jumped out to a 16 to 6 lead at the end of the 1st and extended it to 27 to 17 at halftime. Their biggest lead was by 22 points with just over a minute left in the game.

Pickett County temporarily took the lead by one three minutes into the 1st and maintained being ahead for just over 1 minute. MAHS was in the lead for just over 29 minutes. The game was tied for around 90 seconds at one point.

Leading the scoring for the Bobcats was Zach Amonett with 20. He was followed by Will Amonett with 17, Hunter Wattenbarger with 16 and Kaiden Thomas and Caleb Lowhorn with two points each.

Pickett County made 16 of 41 shots from the court (39 percent), 9 of 22 for 3 points (41 percent) and was 19 of 21 from the free throw line (76.2 percent).
