Cumberland County deputies responded to a home on Oak Crest Lane Friday for a burglary in progress. Officers arrived to find the owner pointing a firearm at the alleged intruders, 32-year-old Brandon Scott McDonald and 25-year-old Hailey Jane Wyatt. Law enforcement asked the man to lower his weapon. The report states McDonald admitted to breaking into the dwelling because they were homeless. Damage was noted to the front door lock and a search of the suspects and their property revealed picks, files, screwdrivers and a hands saw. McDonald and Wyatt were individually charged with aggravated burglary and possession of burglary tools. Both were taken to jail and initially placed under $15,000 bond each.
