Robert Joseph Peden, age 68, of Kingston, passed away February 26, 2021 following a two-year battle with A.L.S. He raised his family in Nashville before moving back to Kingston in 2004. Bob loved carpentry and building, from his days designing kitchens at Lowe’s to his years in the Carpenter’s Union and helping anyone else he could along the way. He spent much of his time volunteering over the years at church and his girl’s schools. He coached softball, was PTO President, served meals to the homeless ministry, pastored Sunday school classes, youth group, and led worship in Bible Study. He loved to spend time with family, especially camping and hiking. Bob served in the United States Army from 1971-1977 as a cannon operator in Germany.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Richard Sr. and Annette Peden of Kingston. He is survived by his wife: Susan Peden of Kingston; daughters: Abigail and Rex Campbell of Maryville, Esther and Joel Zimmerman of Kingston, and Naomi and Gavin Baker of Knoxville; sisters: Barbara (Eddie) Dry of Red River, New Mexico, Dr. Caryl (Rick) Russell of Ten Mile, Patty Walden of Knoxville, and Jeanne Nolan of Kingston; brother: Richard Peden Jr. of Kingston; and 5 grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 3 until 4:30 p.m. Saturday, February 27, 2021 at Kyker Funeral Home of Kingston with the funeral to follow. Interment service will be at a later date in East Tennessee State Veteran’s Cemetery 2200 E. Governor John Sevier Hwy Knoxville, TN 37920. Because of the COVID pandemic, the family wishes for all to social distance and wear a mask. Kyker Funeral Home of Kingston is serving the Peden family.
