The Tennessee Highway Patrol and medics responded to Highway 411 at Mountain View Drive in Monroe County yesterday for a vehicle crash. The accident report states Vonore police was traveling south and detected a 2012 Volkswagen Passat driven by 30-year-old Troy Hodge of Maryville traveling in the opposite direction at a high rate of speed. A 2013 Toyota Camry operated by 74-year-old Evelyn Olivero of Greenback was attempting to turn off the highway into a business when Hodge struck her. Three air medical helicopters were called in to transport patients and two had to be extricated from the wreckage. Both drivers as well as passengers, 33-year-old William Hodge of Rockford, 39-year-old Ernest Myers III of Louisville, Tennessee and 76-year-old Loius Oliverio, all were taken to a trauma center. Troopers say charges are pending against Hodge.
