The Tennessee Highway Patrol released their report late yesterday of a high speed chase involving Roane and Cumberland County.

It states:

Trooper Louis Guillebeaux was dispatched to Interstate 40 westbound near the 347-mile marker just after 2 p.m. Sunday, January 31, 2021 regarding a vehicle of interest. The Tennessee Highway Patrol Communications Center advised there was a red 2013 Ford Mustang possibly with five occupants including the driver, 31-year-old David Vann Edwards, Jr. of North Carolina, a female and three juvenile children (ages 12, 8 and 3). There was information that came alleging a female and children were being held against their will.

Trooper Guillebeaux advised dispatch he did have visual contact with a Ford Mustang red in color meeting the description given to him. Trooper Hamby and Trooper Guillebeaux at that time followed the vehicle to receive any additional information, then initiated all emergency equipment to stop the vehicle. Edwards pulled over at mile marker 340 (Airport Road exit) westbound. As the troopers attempted to approach the Mustang, Edwards stepped out of the automobile and then got back in speeding off westbound on I-40.

Troopers then began to pursue Edwards into Cumberland County at high rates of speed. The chase ended at the 318-mile marker westbound as troopers took Edwards into custody and checked welfare of the female and the children.

There were no injuries during the pursuit and the investigation is ongoing with officials out of North Carolina. Edwards was transported and booked into the Roane County jail for evading arrest and three counts of reckless endangerment.
