President Donald Trump last night granted a full pardon to Nicholas Slatten from White County. He was a former Blackwater security guard who had been sentenced to prison for his role in a shooting that killed 14 Iraqi civilians, including two women and two children, and wounded 17 others.

Three others involved, Dustin Heard, Evan Liberty and Paul Slough, also received pardons from President Trump.

On September 16, 2007, they were involved in a shooting that strained international relations and drew scrutiny to the role of American contractors in war-torn Iraq.
