AUTHORITIES WARNING CITIZENS OF “SOCIAL SECURITY PHONE CALL SCAM”

///
Comments are Off

The Roane and Cumberland County Sheriff’s Department warns citizens of a phone scam. This is where someone claiming to represent the “Social Security Office” calls and claims a resident has not paid enough into their Social Security and they would not be able to receive any benefits. The caller then would try and talk the person into giving personal information, or making a payment to balance the so-called account. This is a scam! The Social Security Administration does not conduct business in this manner. If you do receive one of these calls, simply hang up.
