Blount County Sheriff James Lee Berrong says a woman died as a result of a motorcycle accident on “The Dragon” yesterday. A passenger on the motorcycle was also injured.

The report states 44-year-old Lisa Renee Green of Clanton, Alabama, was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger on the motorcycle, 42-year-old Amos Tallent of Ellijay, Georgia was taken by ambulance to Blount Memorial Hospital for treatment of injuries.

Shortly after 3 p.m. yesterday, deputies responded to mile marker 4.3 on the stretch of U.S. Highway 129 known as “The Dragon” to the call of a motorcycle accident. An investigation determined Green and Tallent were traveling north on the Dragon on a 2020 Harley Davidson Trike and as she negotiated a right curve she looked away from the road briefly and traveled into a ditch on the left side of the roadway. As the Trike came out of the ditch, she over-corrected, causing the Trike to turn over onto the roadway.

The Sheriff’s Office Traffic Safety Unit is investigating the accident.

The famous stretch of highway has been the scene of numerous fatal accidents over the past several years.
