Marvin C. Benson, age 87, of Crossville, passed away August 13, 2020. He was born July 14, 1933 in Athens, Tennessee the son of Fred C. and Bertha Morrow Benson. He spent his life doing what he loved, which was farming. He was a more than 50 year member of Homestead Baptist Church, another milestone in his life that he was very proud of. His time he served in the United States Army in Germany was also a proud and honorable part of his life. Marvin loved people and people loved Marvin and he greatly enjoyed sharing stories about his military service with his friends. The most special part in Marvin’s life was the love he shared with his three beautiful granddaughters and the fact that after not being able to see them in the last several months, that he was able to share some of his last words with them personally, a blessing to him and the girls. He is survived by his wife: Martha Benson; sons: Cecil Benson (Tonya), Norman Benson (Bert) and Daniel Benson (Darlene), all of Crossville; grandchildren: Brittney Benson, Caitlyn Benson and Hannah Benson Matthews; and great-grandchild: Hayden Benson Matthews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers: David Benson and Freddie Benson; and sister: Evelyn Cain. Funeral services will be held Sunday August 16, 2020 at 3 p.m. at Hood Funeral Home in Crossville. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1 until 3 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Green Acres Memory Gardens.
