A well-known doctor in Rhea County has died from the coronavirus.

Dr. Sithipol Tantihachai, known as ‘Dr. Sid’ by many, was a general practitioner at the Rhea County Primary Care Center in Dayton. He passed away yesterday, August 13, 2020.

Vanderwall Funeral Home in Dayton is in charge of arrangements.

Dr. Sid posted a video earlier this month when he was hospitalized. His statement in the video is as follows:

“I am doing well last night than the night before but weak, no cough, no fever; I can breathe much better. One drawback is that, I have to put back on high flow oxygen again, And I am still in ICU isolation. Thank you all for your love your prayers and your concern and your support that is what keep me on. But most of all, we are praising the Holy name of the Lord for He is good, Full with loving and kindness compassion and love, mercy and grace to all of His children. Amen!”

He is the second worker at Rhea County Primary Care to die from COVID-19.

Donna Smith, a medical assistant, also passed away.
