Tennessee Wildlife Resource Agency officers responded to a call around 8:30 last night at Blue Springs Marina in Roane County. Law enforcement including the TBI, medics firefighters and Lifestar all arrived after multiple reports of small explosions came from moored vessels at the marina. A married couple from Monroe County sustained serious injuries when an explosion occurred in their engine hatch. Both were flown to U.T. Medical Center. The dock took significant damage and six vessels were battered, two of which sunk. Officers went boat to boat at the end of the dock to confirm everyone was accounted for and ensure public safety. Volunteer Electric assisted with turning off power to the marina. The incident remains under investigation. A cause of the explosions is being determined.
