The following is from today’s Tennessee Department of Health COVID-19 report:

TENNESSEE – 39,425 (up 633 cases from yesterday) active cases in Tennessee out of 118,782 total cases (up 2,432 cases since yesterday)

  • 79,357 recovered (up 1,799 since yesterday)
  • 1,206 died (up 20 from yesterday)
  • 5,190 had to be hospitalized (up 81 since yesterday)
  • 1,660,337 tested (up 26,695 since yesterday)

(Deaths in counties are added to the recovered then that total is subtracted from the total cases to get an accurate number of remaining active cases)

The following counties in the coverage area report the following as of today (Friday, August 7, 2020). Information in BOLD indicates rises in numbers:

ANDERSON – 261 active remaining cases (up 6 cases from yesterday) out of 668 total cases (up 17 cases from yesterday), 6 fatalities, 14,948 negative tests

BLEDSOE – 49 active remaining cases (up 4 case from yesterday) of 690 total cases (up 4 cases from yesterday), 1 fatality, 4,585 negative tests

CUMBERLAND – 137 active remaining cases (up 7 cases from yesterday) out of 412 total cases (up 14 cases from yesterday), 12,369 negative tests, 6 deaths

FENTRESS – 44 remaining active cases (up 7 cases from yesterday) out of 88 total cases (up 9 cases from yesterday), 2,117 negative tests

KNOX – 1,849 remaining active cases (up 6 cases from yesterday) out of 4,407 total cases (up 109 cases from yesterday), 37 fatalities, 74,639 negative tests

LOUDON – 285 remaining active cases (down 8 cases from yesterday) out of 718 total cases (up 13 cases from yesterday), 3 fatalities, 7,271 negative tests

MCMINN – 139 remaining active cases (up 7 cases from yesterday) out of 524 total cases (up 15 cases from yesterday), 20 fatalities, 8,627 negative tests

MEIGS – 39 remaining active cases (up 1 case from yesterday) out of 101 total cases (up 2 cases from yesterday), 1,741 negative tests

MORGAN –  48 remaining active cases (up 3 cases from yesterday) out of 103 total cases (up 5 cases from yesterday), 1 death, 4,894 negative tests

OVERTON – 74 remaining active cases (up 18 cases from yesterday) out of 175 total cases (up 20 cases from yesterday), 1 fatality, 3,887 negative tests

PICKETT – 15 active cases (down 1 case from yesterday) out of 31 total (up 1 case from yesterday), 655 negative tests, 1 fatality

PUTNAM – 452 remaining active cases (up 16 cases from yesterday) out of 1,717 total cases (up 40 cases from yesterday), 17 fatalities, 17,341 negative tests

RHEA – 119 remaining active case (down 2 cases from yesterday) out of 522 total case (up 5 cases from yesterday), 1 fatality, 5,658 negative tests

ROANE – 220 active case (down 9 cases from yesterday) out of 433 total cases (up 10 cases from yesterday), 2 fatalities, 10,349 negative tests

WHITE – 128 remaining active case (up 18 cases from yesterday) out of 273 total cases (up 27 cases from yesterday), 5 deaths, 4,597 negative tests

June 1-30, 2020 – 116 up to 168 cases (second fatality reported with elderly female from Fairfield Glade on June 4 and third fatality reported June 17 with elderly male in Fairfield Glade)

July 1-31, 2020 – 173 up to 365 cases (fatalities reported on July 2, 14, and 17, 2020)

August 1, 2020 – 374 cases

July 1, 2020 – 46 cases to 330 cases (1st fatality reported July 25 – 79-year-old U.S. Navy veteran Jimmy Dial)

August 1, 2020 – 347 cases

August 3, 2020 – 364 cases (2nd fatality reported, male in his 80’s from Kingston)

August 4, 2020 – 392 cases (passes Cumberland County this day on total cases)
