A truck fire on I-40 in Cumberland County this morning before sunrise left traffic down to one lane westbound for a few hours. Trooper William Morgan says a 2019 Freightliner operated by 38-year-old Alexis Garcia of Hialeah, Florida was traveling west at the 311 mile marker when the tractor-trailer caught fire. It came to a controlled stop on the right shoulder where Garcia disengaged the power unit from the semi-trailer which then became fully engulfed. The fire appeared to originate near the fourth and fifth axle of the trailer. Garcia and a passenger, 40-year-old Yoendrys Garcia De Moya of Fort Myers, Florida, both escaped injury.
