The following is from today’s Tennessee Department of Health COVID-19 report:

TENNESSEE – 40,533 (up 931 cases from yesterday) active cases in Tennessee out of 108,184 total cases (up 2,225 cases since yesterday)

  • 67,651 recovered (up 1,294 since yesterday)
  • 1,067 died (up 7 from yesterday)
  • 4,724 had to be hospitalized (up 63 since yesterday)
  • 1,541,615 tested (up 29,391 since yesterday)

(Deaths in counties are added to the recovered then that total is subtracted from the total cases to get an accurate number of remaining active cases)

The following counties in the coverage area report the following as of today (Saturday, August 1, 2020). Information in BOLD indicates rises in numbers:

ANDERSON – 280 active remaining cases (up 8 cases from yesterday) out of 583 total cases (up 12 cases from yesterday), 5 fatalities, 13,416 negative tests

BLEDSOE – 25 active remaining cases (up 2 cases from yesterday) of 661 total cases (up 2 cases from yesterday), 1 fatality, 4,445 negative tests

CUMBERLAND – 137 active remaining cases (up 8 cases from yesterday) out of 374 total cases (up 9 cases from yesterday), 11,527 negative tests, 6 deaths

FENTRESS – 37 remaining active cases (up 2 cases from yesterday) out of 73 total cases (up 2 cases from yesterday), 1,976 negative tests

KNOX – 1,906 remaining active cases (up 88 cases from yesterday) out of 3,848 total cases (up 143 cases from yesterday), 31 fatalities, 68,340 negative tests

LOUDON – 282 remaining active cases (up 31 cases from yesterday) out of 643 total cases (up 37 cases from yesterday), 3 fatalities, 6,583 negative tests

MCMINN – 139 remaining active cases (up 7 cases from yesterday) out of 472 total cases (up 10 cases from yesterday), 20 fatalities, 7,910 negative tests

MEIGS – 52 remaining active cases (up 4 cases from yesterday) out of 96 total cases (up 4 cases from yesterday), 1,639 negative tests

MORGAN –  31 remaining active cases (up 4 cases from yesterday) out of 76 total cases (up 6 cases from yesterday), 1 death, 4,631 negative tests

OVERTON – 42 remaining active cases (up 9 cases from yesterday) out of 134 total cases (up 9 cases from yesterday), 1 fatality, 3,594 negative tests

PICKETT – 12 active cases (up 1 case from yesterday) out of 22 total (up 1 case from yesterday), 625 negative tests, 1 fatality

PUTNAM – 419 remaining active cases (up 16 cases from yesterday) out of 1,543 total cases (up 25 cases from yesterday), 13 fatalities, 16,236 negative tests

RHEA – 135 remaining active case (up 9 cases from yesterday) out of 491 total case (up 10 cases from yesterday), 1 fatality, 5,177 negative tests

ROANE – 209 active case (up 14 cases from yesterday) out of 347 total cases (up 17 cases from yesterday), 1 fatality, 9,323 negative tests

WHITE – 75 remaining active case (up 1 case from yesterday) out of 188 total cases (up 2 cases from yesterday), 3 deaths, 4,245 negative tests

May 4-31, 2020 – 84 up to 116 cases

June 1-30, 2020 – 116 up to 168 cases (second fatality reported with elderly female from Fairfield Glade on June 4 and third fatality reported June 17 with elderly male in Fairfield Glade)

July 1-31, 2020 – 173 up to 365 cases (fatalities reported on July 2, 14, and 17, 2020)

August 1, 2020 – 374 cases

CORONAVIRUS TOTAL CASES IN ROANE COUNTY (running count)

March 21-31, 2020 – 1 up to 2 cases

April 1- May 3, 2020 – 2 up to 7 cases

May 4-31, 2020 – 8 up to 16 cases

June 1-30, 2020 – 16 up to 44 cases

July 1, 2020 – 46 cases to 330 cases (1st fatality reported July 25 – 79-year-old U.S. Navy veteran Jimmy Dial)

August 1, 2020 – 347 cases

The Tennessee Department of Health says if a total number drops it is because a case was re-classified as another illness instead of COVID-19.
