An Algood man is in stable condition at Vanderbilt Medical Center after being shot in Cookeville yesterday. Police say 31-year-old Justin Michael Payne was wounded three times in the upper torso at the LaQuinta Inn. A second subject was also reportedly injured. Officers arrested 36-year-old Christian James Schlenker of Albuquerque, New Mexico for two counts of aggravated assault. He was taken to the Putnam County jail and initially placed under a $450,000 bond.
