Rhea County Sheriff Mike Neal says a deputy was shot late last night after arriving to a domestic disturbance in progress at 255 Morgan Springs Road. Officers arrived and learned 55-year-old Keith H. Miller barricaded himself in a bedroom inside the home. When authorities found out the suspect was armed, they started to leave when shots were fired by Miller. Officers reportedly did not return fire. Deputy Eric McMillian was wounded, treated at Erlanger Medical Center and is now resting at home. Miller was taken to jail charged with aggravated assault, domestic assault and three counts of attempted criminal homicide.
