11,891 TOTAL CASES OF COVID-19 IN TENNESSEE, TAKES LARGEST JUMP IN A DAY SINCE OUTBREAK STARTED  – MAY 1, 2020

The Tennessee Department of Health said in their report released this afternoon there are 11,891 (1,156 new cases since yesterday) total confirmed cases of coronavirus in the state. Officials say as of today, 204 died (up 5 from yesterday), 1,113 had to be hospitalized (up 68 since yesterday) and 5,546 recovered (plus 208 since yesterday).

The Tennessee Department of Health defines “recovered” as people who (1) have been confirmed to be asymptomatic by their local or regional health department and have completed their required isolation period or (2) are at least 21 days beyond the first test confirming their illness.

ANDERSON – 7 active remaining cases (same as yesterday) out of 28 total cases (same as yesterday), 1 death, 2,041 negative tests

BLEDSOE – 586 active remaining cases (Nearly all of these cases are at the Bledsoe County Correctional Prison) out of 595 total cases, 2,947 negative tests

CLAY – 0 active remaining case (same as yesterday) out of 5 total case (same as yesterday), 231 negative tests

CUMBERLAND – 29 active remaining cases (down 1 case from yesterday) out of 74 total cases (same as yesterday), 1,616 negative tests, 1 death

FENTRESS – 2 remaining active cases (same as yesterday) out of 4 total cases (same as yesterday), 220 negative tests

KNOX – 33 remaining active cases (up 4 cases from yesterday) out of 233 total cases (up 6 cases from yesterday), 5 fatalities, 7,009 negative tests

LOUDON – 8 remaining active cases (down 3 cases from yesterday) out of 32 total cases (down 1 case from yesterday), 599 negative tests

MCMINN – 88 remaining active cases (nearly all of these is at Life Care Center in Athens) out of 94 total cases, 2 fatalities, 1,362 negative tests

MEIGS – 6 remaining active cases (up 1 case from yesterday) out of 9 total cases (up 1 case from yesterday), 161 negative tests

MORGAN –  0 remaining active cases out of 6 total cases, 295 negative tests

OVERTON – 1 remaining active cases (down 1 case from yesterday) out of 8 total cases (same as yesterday), 587 negative tests

PICKETT – 0 cases (has not seen a case since outbreak started), 171 negative tests

PUTNAM – 38 remaining active cases (down 1 case from yesterday) out of 122 total cases (up 1 case from yesterday), 5 fatalities, 1,786 negative tests

RHEA – 1 remaining active case (same as yesterday) out of 5 total case (same as yesterday), 523 negative tests

ROANE – 0 remaining active case (same as yesterday) out of 7 total cases (same as yesterday), 1,517 negative tests
