Cumberland County deputies went to a home on Hyder Loop Friday to serve four warrants on a wanted subject. Two individuals were leaving the home at the time officers arrived but neither was the one they were looking for. Officers then encountered a 6-year-old child at the door who told deputies she was alone. The child’s mother showed up minutes later and let officers in. During a consent search of the home for 30-year-old Johnathan Michael Pearce, officers found in plain view a glass tube and a flat dish with 4.6 grams of meth on it. Pearce was found hiding in the residence and arrested for child abuse and neglect, felony possession of meth, simple possession of a Schedule IV drug and evading arrest. He was also served the four warrants. The Department of Children’s Services was referred in the case.
