The Sparta/White County Volunteer Rescue Squad responded to an area off of Long Hollow Road yesterday afternoon after a rock fell on a male subject on a mountain. Upon arrival the rescue team and medics made contact with the patient. Crews started rigging up rope systems which included using over 1200’ of rope, while medics worked on the patient. A LifeForce helicopter was called to land at a nearly scene. Once rope systems were secure and in place, the patient was then transported down the mountain and taken to LifeForce just before 5 p.m. for transport to an area trauma center. Authorities did not initially release the name of the patient.
