An Anderson County family is stuck overseas from the coronavirus pandemic and is trying to return home. Angela Phillips Wright of Clinton, Tennessee told 105.7 News this morning they have no way now to return back home to Tennessee. Her husband is a professional basketball player and was told he could not leave Abu Dhabi until the season was over. Officials there ended the season this week and they immediately got airline tickets to return home. As they tried to leave, all planes were grounded and the airport was ordered closed because of the outbreak.

“We have no way by way of a civilian flight to return home,” said Angela. “We had our plane tickets (her, her husband and their two children) right after my husband’s basketball season ended but they shut down all flights and the airport here closed.”

“We are American citizens and I am literally in tears because I am overwhelmed with gratefulness that you would try to help,” said Angela.

“So far, one private company offered to fly us from here back to the United States but wanted $250,000 to do it. Needless to say, we can’t do that.”
