A New England Patriots football player was scheduled to appear this morning (Friday, February 21, 2020) in Cumberland County General Sessions court but now has been rescheduled.
Troopers pulled over a 2016 Land Rover operated by 22-year-old Joejuan Lamont Williams of Nashville last month at the 333 mile marker of I-40 for speeding. Officers allegedly found Williams to be in possession of drugs. Williams was charged with speeding, possession of a controlled substance, possession of legend drugs without a prescription, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Williams was taken to the Cumberland County jail and placed under bonds totaling $37,500. Williams made bond and was released.
His new first appearance court date in Cumberland County General Sessions is June 18, 2020.
The New England Patriots selected Williams from Vanderbilt with the 45th overall pick of the 2019 NFL Draft. He made his NFL debut when the Patriots defeated the New York Jets on September 22, 2019. He is a cornerback for the Patriots.
