Cumberland County deputies responded to a home on Southwinds Drive yesterday after a woman sustained several lacerations allegedly from a man armed with a machete. After the incident, 61-year-old David Hedgecoth of Crossville claimed he was the one assaulted with the weapon by the female but officers noted no injuries to him consistent with being attacked with a machete. The weapon was located by officers near a swinging bridge close to the scene. A man that knew the couple told officers he was aware Hedgecoth threatened the victim including wanting to stab and kill her. Hedgecoth was arrested and charged with aggravated domestic assault.
