One person was killed in a vehicle accident in Cumberland County just before 6 p.m. this evening. Trooper William Morgan says a 2015 GMC Sierra driven by 45-year-old Melanie Burgess of Crossville struck a 2003 Jeep Liberty operated by 67-year-old June Cabral of Crossville on the 6,000 block of Lantana Road near 101 Market. Troopers say the Sierra hit the Jeep in the drivers door as Cabrel was attempting to make a turn. Cabrel passed away from injuries sustained. Burgess was not hurt. Both drivers were restrained at the time of impact. The Tennessee Highway Patrol says Burgess was cited for operating a vehicle on an expired drivers license. This makes the 19th traffic fatality in Cumberland County so far this year.
