The State Building Commission’s Executive Subcommittee is scheduled to meet next week to consider proceeding with establishing an Upper Cumberland State Veterans Cemetery in Cumberland County. The 90-acres of land is located not far off of the Genesis Road exit on I-40. If the subcommittee gives the go-ahead, the State Real Estate Asset Management group will start contract negotiations and environmental testing in a process that could last up to 3 months. The cost of the land is projected in the area of $800,000 that will be mainly covered by state appropriations and a part from the Upper Cumberland State Veterans Cemetery Association.
