Blount County Sheriff James Lee Berrong said deputies investigating the hit and run crash that seriously injured a Maryville bicyclist Friday evening have identified a possible vehicle of interest based on witness statements.

Deputies would like to speak to anyone who may have seen a silver 2009 through 2013 model Nissan Frontier in the area of Peterson Lane and Old Niles Ferry Road at around 8 p.m. Friday night. The vehicle will likely have heavy front end damage.

The Sheriff’s Office is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the individual who struck the bicyclist Friday evening around 8 p.m. on Peterson Lane near Old Niles Ferry Road. Following the accident, the driver fled the scene, leaving the victim, 36-year-old Troy Christopher Sample, seriously injured. Sample remains in critical condition in ICU at U.T. Medical Center.

If you have information regarding the individual and/or vehicle that was involved in this accident, please call the non-emergency number at Blount County Dispatch at 865-983-3620.
