LONG TIME CUMBERLAND COUNTY EDUCATOR AND MUSICIAN PASSES AWAY

A long time educator, music teacher and founder of the Cumberland County Community Band passed away yesterday at the age of 81.

Murray Dean Kidwell graduated from Cumberland County High School. He went on to perform in the Air Force Band playing to audiences all over the world.

After his time in the Air Force, Kidwell returned to Cumberland County and taught at North Cumberland and Martin Elementary School for many years. He started the Cumberland County Community Band in 2000. He later retired in 2008

Bilbrey Funeral Home sent out an obituary last night for Kidwell. It states no services has been scheduled at this time for Kidwell. Survivors include his nieces and nephews: Mark Kidwell, Laura Kidwell, Michael Kidwell, and Joanna Funkhouser.
