Blount County Sheriff James Lee Berrong said John Jennings, the Alzheimer’s patient who was reported missing, is now receiving treatment at U.T. Medical Center.

A Sheriff’s Office K-9 Bloodhound team, with the assistance of a K-9 Bloodhound team from Knoxville Police Department, located Jennings shortly before noon today. Jennings had fallen on some rock near Dunlap Branch Creek on Butler Mill Road, close to Butterfly Gap Loop, approximately three-quarters of a mile from his home. After stabilizing Jennings, medical personnel with AMR Ambulance Service transported him to Chilhowee Community Center on Blockhouse Road where Life Star was waiting. He is reported to be in stable condition at U.T. Medical Center.

The Sheriff’s Office responded to Jennings’ residence on Knouff Drive at around 4 a.m. after a family member reported him missing. Sheriff’s deputies and members of the Blount Special Operations Response Team (BSORT) responded and searched the area for several hours. In addition, Blount County Fire Department assisted, Knox County Sheriff’s Office Air Watch provided air support, and Knoxville Police Department provided a K-9 Bloodhound team.
