POLICE CHASE IN ROANE COUNTY ENDS WITH ONE IN CUSTODY

A police chase in Roane County yesterday ended with an arrest. An officer spotted a vehicle driven by a wanted man trying to leaving a residence on Roddy Lane. The arrest report states 51-year-old Derrick Lewis Johnson pulled through the yard and made his way to Highway 70 with police in pursuit. It ended when Johnson lost control on Martin Hollow Road when he went off the road into an embankment. Johnson got out and ran from officers but got tangled up in a patch of kudzu where he was arrested. Johnson was charged with evading arrest, driving on a revoked license and served a warrant for failure to appear in court.
