INMATE OVERPOWERS FENTRESS COUNTY JAILER, CAUGHT IN PICKETT CO.

Authorities in Fentress County say an inmate overpowered a jailer and stole a vehicle from the sheriff’s office yesterday. Additional information on how the inmate was able to escape the jail was not available. The prisoner, 32-year-old Stephanie M. Briggs, left the scene on Highway 127 and later crashed into a GMC Sierra operated by 68-year-old Larry Hannahan in Pickett County. Hannahan sustained injuries and was transport to a hospital in Albany, Kentucky. Briggs received treatment for injuries at Livingston Regional Hospital.
