A brief but strong thunderstorm knocked power out to just over 2,500 Volunteer Electric customers in Cumberland County late this afternoon. The main area out was between the west side of Crossville outbound on Lantana Road towards Lake Tansi. It also knocked a few traffic signals out turning them into 4-way stops for motorists. Power was restored about an hour or two later.
