Rockwood police and medical first responders went to the north end of Kingston Avenue very early this morning for a shooting. A man, reportedly in his 60’s, was found behind a home with a gunshot wound to the face. He was taken by ambulance to an awaiting LifeStar helicopter at the Roane Health Department helipad to be flown to U.T. Medical Center for treatment. Authorities say he was responsive and alert as he was being loaded into the helicopter. Sources say the shooting may have been self-inflicted. More information will be released at a later time by the Rockwood Police Department. The identity of the man has not been released.
