An inmate on a Knoxville work detail faces several charges after he walked away and attacked two officers Thursday. Jeremy Wells is charged with two types of assault, escape, evading arrest and resisting arrest. Police were notified that Wells had escaped and he was later located in the 2500 block of Kenilworth Lane. As he attempted to flee, he got into an altercation with two officers where he allegedly grabbed the testicles of one officer and spat blood on the other. According to officials, Wells admitted to having Hepatitis C and knowingly spat blood on the officer. He was taken into custody and transported to UT Medical Center for treatment.
