More than 200 people attended the United Veterans of Blount County annual Memorial Day program Saturday.

One of the soldiers remembered during the observance was Tennessee’s Lance Corporal Oscar Robert Parrott, who served in the Marine Corps. Parrott died May 4, 1967.

The county dedicated a bridge over Lackey Creek to Parrott. The memorial sign will be put up along Midsettlements and Scarlett Oaks Road.

Lance Corporal Parrott is buried in the Knoxville National Cemetery.
