Eight local food pantries are better equipped to serve their communities after the 27th annual Stamp Out Hunger Post Office Food Drive on May 11.
The numbers are in and residents of Crossville and Cumberland County stepped up and donated 15,529 pounds of non-perishable food items – more than seven and a half tons of food.
The Stamp Out Hunger campaign is the largest single-day collection of food-pantry donations in the nation.
While the volume of food collected is certainly exceptional, it’s not a record. Last year’s donations amounted to 18,718 pounds.
