Quick response by a Roane County deputy yesterday afternoon may have saved a life as a domestic situation escalated. As a deputy approached a Griffith Point home near Kingston, he saw a man and a woman in the driveway arguing. For his own safety he ordered both to the ground and handcuffed 33-year-old Joshua Allen Selvidge.
The woman said they’d argued over Selvidge’s having accused her of cheating. She said they’d been arguing for several days, but that day the argument escalated to the point where Selvidge threatened to kill her dogs with an ax.
The woman presented with red marks, scratches and bruises.
After an investigation and questioning both parties, Selvidge was arrested for domestic assault, false imprisonment and preventing the use of the 911 system.
