Crossville police were dispatched Thursday afternoon to Kroger for a possible assault and seizure. The victim stated 77-year-old Clyde Ervin Beard of Tampa, Florida, had assaulted her.
Beard was shaking and combative when police attempted to speak to him. Emergency personnel managed to calm him down.
The victim claimed she saw Beard looking in and around her vehicle. She approached him and asked if he was a union worker, whereupon she said he “immediately became combative” with her.
An argument ensued, and Beard reportedly shoved the victim against her vehicle.
Several people witnessed the altercation and one of them called 911.
Beard was taken into custody for simple assault.
