KPD INVESTIGATES METAL OBJECT THAT INJURED WOMAN IN VEHICLE ON I-40

Knoxville police are investigating an incident this afternoon in which a large metal object flew through the windshield of a vehicle on the I-40 East ramp at Hall of Fame Drive.

A female passenger in the vehicle struck in the chest by the flying debris has been transported to U.T. Medical Center with what are described as serious injuries.

A police report indicates the driver saw an airborne object just before it flew through the windshield on the passenger’s side. There is no word yet as to what the object was, where it came from or how it ended up crashing through the windshield.
