Emergency services personnel in Gainesboro are trying to reach a man trapped in a Jackson County, Tennessee cave.

According to the Jackson County Emergency Management Office, a man is trapped in a cave on Flynn’s Creek Road. Around 1:00 this morning, Jackson County 911 got a call about a man in the area of Mill Pond Cave.

Responders learned a group of British tourists had been diving in and exploring the Mill Pond Cave the past few days. When they returned from a dive mid-afternoon Tuesday, they realized one of their party was missing. The group attempted another dive to locate him before calling 911.

Jackson County Rescue is working with the Chattanooga Hamilton County Rescue Squad and the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency. Two cave-diving specialists have also been called in – one from Florida and the other from Arkansas.

The cave where the man is trapped is only accessible underwater
