Late this morning, after a three-day trial, a Union County jury deliberated just three hours before finding 44-year-old Shannon Leigh Smith of Andersonville guilty of second-degree murder in the July 2017 shooting death of her husband, 46-year-old Timothy R. Smith.

Timothy Smith was found lying in the driveway of the couple’s home, suffering from a single gunshot wound July 23, 2017; Shannon Smith was found in the driveway with a handgun.

Union County Criminal Court Judge E. Shayne Sexton revoked Smith’s bail and remanded her to custody, pending sentencing, which is set for July 8.

The Union County Sheriff’s Office and TBI investigated the case.
