Although unemployment rose in Cumberland County for the month of January, it was still lower than that recorded in 2018. The Tennessee Dept. of Labor and Workforce Development released the new numbers Thursday. Cumberland County’s unemployment rate for January was 5.4 percent, a full percentage point up from December of 2018. Statistics show that 67 of the state’s 95 counties had unemployment rates for January under the 5 percent mark. Williamson County has the lowest unemployment for January with 2.4 percent with Lake County showing the highest numbers at 9.3 percent.
