MOTORCYCLIST KILLED IN CRASH WITH GARBAGE TRUCK IN KNOXVILLE

A motorcyclist was killed in a multi-vehicle crash that shut down Middlebrook Pike this morning.

The Knoxville Police Department says officer arrived just after 7:30 to the scene, where the westbound motorcyclist had struck the rear wheels of a Waste Connections truck that was crossing Middlebrook Pike from Henson Road.

The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.

Multiple witnesses indicated the motorcycle was traveling at a high rate of speed, weaving in and out of traffic just prior to the crash.

The name of the victim is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
