The next student-assessment test administrator will need to follow strict performance requirements. So says a request for proposal issued yesterday. Previous testing by vendor Questar encountered statewide delays, leading to frustration and outrage from students, teachers and lawmakers alike.
Some districts had to cancel testing altogether last year. The state auditors’ report pointed directly to the actions of Questar in causing the disruptions and delays.
The new contractor must provide weekly customer-satisfaction summaries and keep call-center times to a minimum. Prospective vendors have until April 11 to submit proposals. The state anticipates signing with a contractor by June 13. A new provider contract is expected to cost the state an estimated $20 million annually.
