The Cumberland County Board of Education received a facility’s update at their February meeting. Kim Chamberlin with Uplands Design Group reported that the renovations to the Cumberland County High School Stadium should wrap up at the end of March, barring any more severe weather. Chamberlin said work has been completed on the front entryway and that the retaining walls and sidewalks had been poured. Paint and HVAC crews have been busy and they continue to work on bleachers, railing and new steps. Chamberlin stated that the new drainage system on the field had been tested severly during the last few day’s flooding conditions. He said that he visited the area and was glad to report that there was no water on the field. Renovations at the stadium and the high school are part of a $3 million project. The new Crab Orchard Elementary construction is continuing forward and Chamberlin said that he would like to schedule a tour of the facility for board members sometime within the next few weeks.
