While patrolling the Westel Road area of Cumberland County earlier this month, deputies ran a tag and learned it didn’t match the subject vehicle. Initiating a traffic stop, they encountered the driver, 55-year-old Sherry Louise King, her daughter and front-seat passenger, 39-year-old Jennifer Leann Watson, and back-seat passenger 39-year-old Arless John Morgan, all of the same Kirkham Drive address in Rockwood. Watson, who was drinking a beer, had a six-pack at her feet.
When asked about the mismatched tag, King admitted she knew it didn’t belong on that car, but it was her tag.
Morgan told deputies he had meth and pipes in his backpack in the car. But King refused to permit a search, so K-9 Apollo was deployed; he alerted to the odor of narcotics.
Bags containing meth were found within the car, with a total weight of approximately 33 grams. All three were charged with felony manufacture, sale, delivery or possession of meth and placed under $30,000 bond apiece; Morgan was also charged with unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. Bond for that charge was an additional $1,000. The three are due to appear in court March 11.
