2 TEENS KILLED IN FRIDAY CRASH IN COOKEVILLE

Two teens were killed in a single vehicle crash in Cookeville Friday. According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, 16-year-old Layton Proffitt was driving westbound on Pippin Road in a 2002 Dodge DSX, when the vehicle left the right-hand side of the road, overturned and struck a tree. THP says that the vehicle’s cab collapsed killing Proffitt and his 17-year-old passenger, Leigh Anne Eldridge, upon impact. The report stated that both were restrained and that it may not have made a difference. Drugs and alcohol have also been ruled out as contributing factors in the wreck.
