Just after 1:30 Sunday morning, Crossville police were summoned to Bullfrog for a fight in progress. There they found 29-year-old Michael Cudney of Crossville and 34-year-old Kyle Barnes of Monterey attempting to leave the parking lot.
Barnes alleged Cudney kept staring him down in the bar and trying to intimidate him, and said the two began “cussing and screaming at one another” in the bar, until staff asked them to leave. Barnes said he left by the back door, where a waiting Cudney lunged at him, chest bumping him and punching him in the face.
According to police, Cudney appeared highly intoxicated, with bloodshot eyes and a strong odor of alcohol emanating from him. He became belligerent toward police, accused them of trying to break his cell phone, and began yelling, “My attorney is York, you have really messed up now!”
Several officers attempted to calm Cudney down, all the time being met with undue aggressiveness, screaming and threatening them with his lawyer.
Both men were charged with disorderly conduct. Cudney was additionally charged with public intoxication and assault.
According to the arrest report, at the Cumberland County Justice Center, Cudney, who “has a lengthy history with alcohol related charges,” lunged at the magistrate “and got in her face in an attempt to intimidate her for allowing him to be charged.”
Cudney continued to scream and threaten officers, and kicked a door, demanding to be released.
